Moscow: 27 orphaned children from the Donetsk People's Republic arrived in Moscow region and were transferred to families under temporary care today. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights.
"With the assistance of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, twenty-seven orphans from the Donetsk People's Republic were placed in Russian families under temporary guardianship. They will live in the Moscow region. On April 23, Maria Lvova-Belova and the Governor of Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov transferred orphans from the DPR to temporary custody in ten families from Bogorodsky, Domodedovo, Volokolamsk, Serpukhov, Taldomsky, Chekhov and other urban districts of the Moscow region. Families for these children were selected taking into account various particulars, medical fitness, needs and circumstances. Large families and adoptive families having the required experience of bringing up children were given custody of the children. Some of them already have the experience of receiving children from Donbass since 2014", reported the press service.
The press service added that the first orphaned children who were placed under temporary guardianship in Russian families were previously in orphanages on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. Basically, all children have brothers or sisters, the youngest child is three years old, with the eldest being 17 years old. Four of the children belong to categories of orphans for whom it is difficult to arrange families: those with disabilities due to phenylketonuria, mental disorders, autism, epilepsy and musculoskeletal disorders.
