Kiev: Quoting Russian war correspondent Yevgeniy Poddubniy, Voennoe Obozrenie (link) has reported that a third Russian battle group has been sighted in Ukraine.
Until now we knew about the existence of battle groups "Z" and "V". According to Poddubniy this third battle group, namely Battle Group "O", has been active in the field since the first day of the war / special operation. He adds that Battle Group "O" is the group which carried out operations in Sumy region.
Voennoe Obozrenie reports that Battle Group "O" was originally deployed in Kharkov (Kharkiv), from where it has been carrying out an offensive in the direction of the Donetsk People's Republic.
A similar but not identical version concerning the deployment of Battle Group "O" has been provided by Aleksandr Kolts, war correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda (link). Kolts reports that the said battle group has gained control of Village Lozovoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, and is now holding the front in Kharkov (Kharkiv) region and thereby preventing the Ukrainian army from sending reinforcements to help those Ukrainian troops which are already present in the DPR.
He adds that the battle group is now headed towards Yampol and Krasniy Liman. Once there, it will be able to block access to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk from the North East. These two towns are under the control of the Ukrainian government till date.
